About NOVA IV Therapy
Get to know the people, the providers, and the philosophy behind NOVA IV Therapy.
Why Choose NOVA IV Therapy
At NOVA IV Therapy, we provide medically supervised IV and ozone-based therapies within a structured, provider-directed setting.
Our Approach
Our approach is focused on safety, thoughtful evaluation, and individualized care—not one-size-fits-all treatments.
We are not a retail IV lounge or menu-based service. Every recommendation is guided by clinical judgment, patient history, and appropriateness of care.
Provider-Directed Care
All therapies are delivered under licensed medical supervision, with evaluation and screening completed before treatment.
Individualized, Not Menu-Driven
We don’t offer pre-set “drip menus.” Recommendations are based on your health history, goals, and clinical appropriateness.
Designed to Complement Your Care
Our services are intended to work alongside your primary care—not replace it—when supportive therapies may be appropriate.
Focused on Safety & Transparency
We take time to explain each therapy, including how it works, potential risks, and available alternatives.
Advanced Therapies in a Clinical Setting
We offer IV nutrient therapy and ozone-based procedures under structured protocols and provider oversight.
A More Thoughtful Patient Experience
We prioritize listening, education, and individualized care—so patients feel informed and supported in their decisions.
Meet Our Founder
Areti Gourzis
While Areti is not a medical practitioner of any kind, she strongly believes in integrative and functional medicine as the first line of defense for both acute and chronic illness.
She's pleased to partner with Sterling Wellness to ensure that comprehensive functional medicine care is available to NOVA IV Therapy patients.
Meet Our Provider
Dr. Sonja Richmond
Over nearly two decades, she has achieved several milestones in the medical field, including becoming a Board-Certified Internist and Board-Certified Hospice Medical Director. She is licensed to practice medicine in Virginia, Maryland, and the District of Columbia.
Richmond is expanding her medical experience into integrative and functional medicine at NOVA IV Therapy. Bringing more than 20 years of internal medicine expertise and a deep desire to heal patients with complex conditions, she has joined NOVA IV Therapy’s mission. Over the course of 2026, Dr. Richmond will support NOVA IV Therapy’s vision to provide primary care in conjunction with integrative therapies.
Our Office
Front Desk
The Tree of Life at our Front Desk is a nod to the interconnectedness of all things, which reflects a broader perspective on health and well-being.
While there are many interpretations for the Tree of Life, for our practice, it’s a testament to the roots we grow through our experiences and the strengths we build through our challenges. It also symbolizes rebirth and a fresh start, which is fitting for the mission we want to achieve for and with our patients.
Waiting Room
From check-in to check-out, we aim to provide our patients with a very comfortable experience at our office. We provide alkaline reverse osmosis water as a commitment to clean hydration, along with a coffee and tea station.
We understand how hectic life can be, so our goal is always to start your appointment on time. If we’re running behind, we aim to keep your wait time under 15 minutes.
Ozone & IV Therapy Room
One of the first things you’ll notice in our IV Therapy Room is the Phoenix artwork on the far wall. The Phoenix is a symbol of resilience and renewal, which reflects the experience many patients are seeking as they focus on improving their overall health and well-being. We find it another fitting symbol of rising out of illness.
We aspire to provide our patients with this hope and aim to turn it into a reality. We use both medical recliners and heated soft recliners for our IV procedures, along with heating pads and electric blankets for patient comfort. Our IV room faces west and offers beautiful vistas for our patients to enjoy, especially the evening sunsets.
Out-of-Town Patients
Some NOVA IV Therapy patients visit us from other states or regions outside Northern Virginia. To ensure a smooth trip, we provide a few recommendations for where to stay, where to eat, and where to purchase any staples you may need.
